Volunteer Projects

Adopt-A-Plot

Adopt-A-Plot is a program of Clarksville’s Street Department. MCMGA volunteers have long provided road-side beautification at the site of the Intersection of Madison St. and Dogwood Ln.

Austin Peay State University Plant the Campus Red

Austin Peay State University Plant the Campus Red is an annual spring event in which Master Gardeners – under the direction of university landscapers – lead campus volunteers in garden design and placement, resulting in bold red and white flora campus wide.

Dunbar Cave Butterfly Garden

Dunbar Cave Butterfly Garden in association with the Tennessee Forestry Department is a habitat of indigenous plants designed to attract butterflies to the area.

Fort Campbell Survivor Outreach Services

Fort Campbell Survivor Outreach Services provides assistance to military families of fallen soldiers. Master Gardeners keep the grounds of the facility.

Fort Defiance Civil War Park and Interpretive Center

Fort Defiance Civil War Park and Interpretive Center

Located on a bluff 200 feet above the confluence of the Red and Cumberland Rivers, the Fort Defiance site has been a hub of activity for more than two centuries. Master Gardeners maintain the beds around the museum, the statue honoring the United States Colored Troops, and native herb bed.

Greenwood Cemetery Scatter Garden

Greenwood Cemetery Scatter Garden is a serene setting for spreading the remains of loved ones.

Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County

Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County aspires to make decent, affordable shelter for all people. Master Gardeners provide basic landscaping and give a tree to the homeowners during the Key Ceremony.

Historic Collinsville

Historic Collinsville includes a 40-acre Pioneer Settlement featuring 16 restored log homes and the Weakley House Museum. Authentic period furnishings and artifacts fill most buildings and illustrate rural life before and after the Civil War. Master Gardeners assess and beautify the flower and herb gardens with period reflective plants.

Jubilee Garden

Jubilee Garden is a community garden providing a place to meet and build relationships while growing and gathering food.

L&N Train Station

L&N Train Station is a restored 1859 historical landmark where Master Gardeners maintain three garden areas utilizing native plants and trees.

Montgomery County Agricultural Extension Services Landscape Project

Montgomery County Agricultural Extension Services Landscape Project showcases two areas. 1) Front entrance gardens with nandina, native grasses, evergreen trees and flowers. 2) Shade garden with hostas, beautyberry, Japanese maple and other flowers.

Smith-Trahern Mansion

Smith-Trahern Mansion is an 1858 historic site in downtown Clarksville overlooking the Cumberland River. A venue for historic talks, community lectures and tours, it features period appropriate garden beds.

Kleeman Recreation Center 4-H Garden

Kleeman Recreation Center 4-H Garden is a 4-H youth gardening project that uses the Junior Master Gardener program that offers horticultural, environmental science and life skills development through fun and creative activities committed to helping young people to become good gardeners and good citizens.
